Our Approach

Every frame begins long before the camera comes out

Photography that reflects the same intention you bring to your design. Working with architects, builders, and interior designers across British Columbia, I approach each project with the same care and attention you bring to your work.

From concept to delivery, the process is tailored to capture your project at its highest potential — visually, emotionally, and professionally. The structure exists so you can focus on your work while I focus on documenting it.

Step 01

Pre-Shoot Consultation

Understanding Your Project and Vision

Every project begins with a discovery call or email exchange. We discuss your goals — whether it's building a portfolio, entering an award, publishing, or client presentation. We'll cover design narrative and key architectural features, ideal image style, scope and access, intended usage, and any publication or award submission specs. This ensures the photography supports your design intent and professional objectives from the very beginning.

Step 02

Creative Planning & Site Review

Strategic Preparation for Visual Impact

Before the shoot, I review architectural plans, renderings, or previous photos to understand orientation and composition opportunities. We align on optimal natural light timing, drone permissions, on-site logistics, weather considerations, and any site-specific challenges. You'll receive a shoot prep checklist to ensure the space is photo-ready, including staging tips and key design details to highlight.

Step 03

Photography Day

Intentional Composition. Calm, Professional Presence.

On shoot day, I work independently or alongside your team. I carefully compose images that balance space, structure, light, and material. Coverage includes hero exterior shots, interior wide angles, intimate vignettes, architectural details, material intersections, and aerial perspectives where applicable. I work quietly and respectfully on site, always aligning with the rhythm of your team and environment.

Step 04

Post-Production & Editing

Subtle, Editorial-Grade Finishing

Images are professionally edited with a restrained, natural approach that enhances clarity without artificial distortion. Post-processing includes colour correction, perspective alignment, retouching distractions, and tonal balancing to reflect how the space feels, not just how it looks. The final product: clean, timeless images with editorial polish. Ready for publication, awards, or portfolio use.

Step 05

Delivery & Licensing

On-Brand Assets, Delivered Professionally

Final high-resolution images are delivered in a curated online gallery, typically within 5 to 10 business days. You'll receive full-res files for print, web-optimized versions, social-ready crops if requested, and clear licensing terms suited to your usage. Optional add-ons include press kits, social-ready image sets, and award submission preparation.

Matt was a pleasure to work with on our recent architectural project shoots. He was highly responsive and organized pre-shoot, and on site he worked efficiently with a professional, calm demeanor. His creative eye brought out the best in the design, and he easily adapted to changing conditions. Highly recommend!
